God's Story
Updated 4.18.05
Pastor Manuel Castillo received the evangelism/literature training with the group of 8 people from his church. When it got time to do the store to store distribution, he decided to “loan” rather than “give away” the bilingual videos of the Jesus Film (Arabic/Spanish). I had recommended giving them away, but he changed the plan. I said OK since it was his church and his side of town and he was going to be doing the follow through.
God used the change in tactics in a surprising way. Pastor Manuel and his team went to the local Arabic bakery and found a group of men all interested in borrowing the video, and they were willing to give their name and phone number to him so he could return the following week for the videos. He wrote their names on a list. Then he went on his way down the street stopping in various stores. He met some men who appeared to be Muslim and they were definitely not interested. But then they happened to see the names of the borrowers on Manuel’s list! They knew those men, so they said “If they are borrowing the video then we want to see it too”.
I haven’t heard yet how the follow-through visits turned out. But I am grateful that the New Testaments given out and the loaned video will speak powerfully and that Manuel and fellow members will be faithful to share the good news.
